A Friend
A friend told me yesterday he wished he had never divorced his first wife.
She was ten years older than him, you see & he got tired of her mothering energy.
She waited for him to come back. For seven years. She built her own empire. Becoming a millionaire & establishing her own legacy.
She sent him a thank you note. Thanking him for leaving. For inspiring her to start her own business The one he always told her was too risky. To merge her company with another. To sell it for millions.
To this day, she remains unmarried.
He regrets not going back. He realized, many years later, that she really & truly loved him. That he had been the one holding her back.
He had tears in his eyes as he retold his history to me.
Because it is history. He gave up those moments. Those chances. The love. The happily ever after.
He never took the plunge. He never made that call. He never drove the distance to her doorstep. The possibilities will remain a mystery to him.
But she knows… she waited those seven years. Building for the both of them. In the hopes that he would indeed, find his way Home
